โดยมีบุคคลที่สนใจมาร่วมประชุมครั้งนี้จากหลายๆประเทศ
โดยผู้จัดมีแนวคิดหลักในการจัดประชุมในครั้งนี้คือ
"ทำไมและอย่างไรกับซอฟท์แวร์โอเพ่นซอร์ส(Floss)ในแวดวงการศึกษา
สร้างเสริมประสิทธิภาพการสอนและผลงานทางวิชาการ ด้วยซอฟท์แวร์ที่ถูกกฎหมาย
และเป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ร่วมใช้
ผู้มีส่วนร่วมพัฒนาซอฟท์แวร์เสรีที่กระจัดกระจายกันอยู่ให้ได้มีโอกาสพบปะ
สังสรรค์ ร่วมแสดงผลงาน
แลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้หรือเกิดความร่วมมือแบ่งปันความรู้ซึ่งกันและกัน
(Professional Development Opportunity)"
ในการจัดประชุมครั้งนี้ทางผู้จัดได้ให้เกียรติเชิญผมไปร่วมเสนองานและเป็น
วิทยากรในกลุ่ม WorkShop ในหัวข้อของระบบบริหารจัดการการเรียนรู้(Learning
Management System) ซึ่งผมได้ส่งหัวข้อไปให้คือเรื่อง Free Open Source LMS : Claroline Thai Edition & eFront Thai Edition เป็น อีก 2 ใน 3 โปรแกรมระบบอีเลิร์นนิ่งที่ผมได้มีโอกาสเข้าไปมีส่วนร่วมในการแปลภาษาไทยของระบบ
และ
ปรับแต่งเป็นเวอร์ชั่นภาษาไทยเฉพาะ
ตามโครงการศึกษาวิจััยและพัฒนาโปรแกรมสนับสนุนระบบบริหารจัดการเรียนการสอน
ศิลปกรรมผ่านระบบเครือข่าย ประเภทเปิดเผยรหัสต้นฉบับ The research and
development of educational media innovation for supporting the art and
design online learning courses.

During Halloween, KIS International School will play host to the FlossEd conference, a conference about open source software in education.
The FlossEd conference, which stands for Free/Libre Open Source Software for Education, is a two-day conference organized by OpenSourceSchools.org to share and learn about using these software solutions. Speakers will come from various countries in the region, and participating guests are teachers, old users, new users, and IT specialists.
The premise of the conference is that Open Source Software is not only free to use, it is arguably better than other software for education.
With education styles developing towards collaboration and project based learning, where students take more responsibility for their own education, the use of open source tools makes sense. The free software is developed by teams who are eager and passionate about using their expertise to custom-make products using the internet as their research lab. These people are the hubs of their respective fields and are highly skilled and respected. The teams interact with other independent specialists to develop their software and, through the internet, all of them are open to scrutiny and questioning from anyone who has an interest in their work. The tools developed by these groups support the goals of the IB- to develop cooperation, international-mindedness, life-long learners, and inquirers.
In practice, these open source solutions are designed to meet the specific needs of users at a school: for admin, the classrooms, the library and many more. There is FLOSS software for almost any need imaginable. Examples are varied and range from basic office applications like Open Office, to E-learning systems such as Moodle, or Educational packages to learn and practice various skills, such as Keyboarding, Math, Arts, Humanities, Problem Solving or programming.
KIS International School is a leader in the use of Educational Open Source Software. The school has applied Open Source software in both academic and administrative departments. KIS runs the software in all areas, i.e. the Operating System, Applications, Educational Applications, E-Learning System, Room Booking System, Gallery System, Database System, Blog / Pod cast / Wikipedia System. KIS is unique in that the school uses Open Source software from Early Years to Grade 12.
In addition to applying the Open Source Software in the school, KIS pushing the use of these free and legal solutions outside the school by setting several public forums, such as the FlossEd conference, to share their know-how and experience in this area.
